We kindly invite you to the opening of JOISTENLAND, an exhibition by Bernard Joisten, curated by Clément Dirié @Leilei Gallery.
Opens on: Friday, the 24th of February, starting with 6PM.
Location: Leilei Gallery, on Aurel Vlaicu 88-90, Bucharest.
With his new exhibition entitled Joistenland at Leilei Gallery, Bernard Joisten (who lives and works in Paris and Bucharest) conceives an immersive environment where reality and the virtual, the surfaces of the screen and the multiple dimensions of the images, the icons of our imaginary and the banality of the consumer society are naturally combined to propose a landscape of fake perceptions and real stakes. At the heart of the proposal, the Lost Museum film (2023) embodies the artist’s “turbomodernist” vision, between over-ornamentation and generic, seduction and the becoming-avatar of our existences.
An art historian, art critic, and curator, Clément Dirié is an observer as attentive to contemporary artistic creation as to genealogies of art history since the 1960s. Author of numerous essays on art and design, he organized in 2022 the exhibitions Horizones, 23rd Prize of the Fondation Pernod Ricard and Une chambre en ville by Ana Jotta for the Festival d’Automne à Paris.
